Gas valves are a new type of safety accessory for gas pipeline projects. Gas valves have a wide range of uses and many types. They can be classified into two categories:

  1. According to the structural characteristics, valves can be divided according to the direction of the closing member relative to the valve seat movement:

(3) Rotary and ball-shaped: the closing member is a plunger or ball that rotates around its own centerline. (4) Rotary start-up: the closing member rotates around the axis outside the valve seat. (5) Disc-shaped: the closing member is a disc that rotates around the axis inside the valve seat. (6) Sliding valve-shaped: the closing member slides in a direction perpendicular to the channel.


  1. According to the structural type, there are mainly rotary valves, gate valves, shut-off valves, and ball valves used to open or close the gas flow in the pipeline. Check valves (including bottom valves) are used to automatically prevent gas backflow. Throttle gas valves are used to regulate the flow of gas in pipelines. Pressure reducing valves are used to automatically reduce the pressure of gas in pipelines and equipment. When the gas passes through the gap of the valve disc, resistance is generated, causing pressure loss and achieving the purpose of pressure reduction.


  2. According to the purpose, types of gas valves can be divided according to their different uses:

(1) For opening and closing: used to connect or cut off gas pipelines, such as shut-off valves, gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, etc. (2) For check: used to prevent gas backflow, such as check valves. (3) For regulation: used to regulate the pressure and flow of gas, such as control valves and pressure reducing valves. (4) For distribution: used to change the direction and distribute gas flow, such as three-way rotary valves, distribution valves, sliding valves, etc.


  1. According to the driving method, valves can be divided according to different driving methods:

(1) Manual: driven by manpower using handwheels, handles, levers, or chain wheels, etc. When transmitting a large torque, they are equipped with gear reduction devices such as worm gears and gears. (2) Electric: driven by electric motors or other electrical devices. (3) Pneumatic: driven by compressed air.


  1. According to the connection method with the pipeline, it can be divided according to the connection method of the valve and the pipeline.

(1) Flange connection valve: The valve body is equipped with a flange, and the valve is connected to the pipeline by flange. (2) Threaded connection valve: The valve body is equipped with internal or external threads, and the valve is connected to the pipeline by threading. (3) Welded connection valve: The valve body has a welded joint, and the valve is connected to the pipeline by welding. (4) Clamp connection valve: The valve body has a clamp, and the valve is connected to the pipeline by clamping. (5) Socket connection valve: The valve is connected to the pipeline by a socket joint.
